PR industry giant - Larry Weber, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Racepoint Global - was the keynote speaker at Capitol Communicator’s PR Summit DC on July 18.
Perhaps best known as the Weber in Weber Shandwick, he’s also an author of six books, the latest of which, Authentic Marketing: How to Capture Hearts and Minds Through the Power of Purpose, was published earlier this year.
Weber shared key takeaways from the book at the PR Summit. On the sidelines, I caught up with him for the latest Communicators-to-Communicators 3-minute video.
In our discussion, he shares the importance of companies having both a moral purpose and an ethical approach to capitalism. He notes that “increasingly customers and prospective customers are going to be looking for companies that are good.”
As an industry leader with 40 years of technology communications experience, he also discussed the role of technology in communications. Arguing that it is or should be a force for good, he advises communicators to get educated on what tools are available and incorporate them into communications strategies, and to be tech savvy.
